The Practitioner
Meet Kay
Artist. Certified art therapy practitioner. Veteran. The person holding space at Human Thread Studios — and, in a lot of ways, probably someone a little like you.

Kay is an abstract artist, certified art therapy practitioner, and disabled U.S. Navy veteran with more than 40 years in art and a long parallel life in creative technology. After six years of service, she came home and began the quieter, longer work of using art to make sense of what she carried — and eventually, of helping other people do the same.
This studio supports art therapy as a practice of expression and repair — not as a clinic, not as a corporate program. The work here is gentle, slow, and grounded in the belief that creativity is one of the oldest ways humans have ever processed what they live through. You don't need to be "good at art." You don't need to be in crisis. You just need to be curious.
As an artist, Kay treats every canvas — traditional, digital, or unconventional — as a boundless opportunity to explore emotion, humanity, and expression. Her own work is a dialogue with the soul, translated through vibrant color, shifting texture, and intuitive shape. That same listening is what she brings to a session with you.
She built Human Thread Studios because too many creative, brilliant people have been made to feel "bad at therapy" or "bad at tech" when the truth is simpler: the spaces weren't built for them. So she built one that is — calm, intuitive, and shaped around how people actually feel.
Kay is a proud member of the LGBTQA+ community. Her identity — as a 62-year-old woman, a veteran, an artist, a neurodivergent thinker — shapes everything she makes here. Human Thread Studios exists because she knows firsthand what it feels like to not see yourself reflected in the rooms you walk into. This is a room where you are.
Trained in art therapy
Certified practitioner with decades inside the studio. Sessions are structured but never clinical — paint, paper, clay, breath, and conversation, in whatever order serves you.
Veteran-informed, trauma-aware
Pacing, consent, and the freedom to pause are woven into every session. You set how deep, how fast, and what's off-limits.
For seekers, not just sufferers
You don't have to be broken to begin. Curiosity is enough of a doorway.
Built for how you actually feel
Every tool and ritual here is designed to be calmer and more intuitive than what you're used to. The space is supposed to feel like a deep exhale.
Ready when you are
Let's begin with a quiet conversation.
A free discovery call is just a chance to talk — about what's bringing you here, what you're hoping for, and whether this feels like the right room.
